Sound familiar…?

  • “I freeze up when clients get emotional.”

  • “I know emotion matters, but I don’t know how to coach it.”

  • “I want deeper connection without feeling drained after every session.”

What if you could…

  • Help clients regulate emotions with confidence?

  • Build stronger, faster therapeutic alliances?

  • Reduce your emotional exhaustion and burnout?

You don’t have to say the perfect thing. You just need a framework.

Emotion Coaching sits comfortably within a dietitian’s scope of practice and strengthens the heart of our work:

  • Connection

  • Trust

  • Behavior change

Emotion Coaching builds emotional attunement alongside nutrition care, dietitians can support deeper, more sustainable progress for clients living with eating disorders.

Your hosts, Drs. Katherine Henderson and Shari Mayman, C.Psychs

What dietitians are saying about their experience:

This course is everything I look for in a course: the speakers are incredibly engaging which makes me look forward to each module, and the content is so impactful - I can't stop talking about everything I've learned, and have both laughed and cried during each lesson. I can tangibly feel all the takeaways beginning to shift my client sessions. SUCH a worthwhile investment into my practice!

— Jacklyn, RD

Emotion coaching has been an incredible addition to my skills as an eating disorder dietitian. This course was well-paced with lots of opportunities for practice with others. The facilitators were fabulous and highly knowledgeable - they really broke things down in a way that makes sense, especially for dietitians. Thank you EDforRDs and Shawna for hosting this wonderful learning opportunity and sharing these valuable skills!!

— Courtenay, RD

This course has improved my practice. While I consider myself an empathetic dietitian, the course brought me to a whole new level of understanding. It was truly life-altering. I can already see the positive impact this method of practice has had on my clients.

You’ll leave this course knowing how to respond when a client says, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’

  • Address emotions and blocks that are certain to arise in sessions - but leave feeling like you can handle it

  • Speak TO the emotion, rather than feeling afraid and like you want to run away and hide

  • Recognize your own worries and what is getting in your own way of addressing emotions

  • Feel like you are actually helping and not hindering

  • Feel a part of the sessions when people don’t want to change, or they are shut down - instead of being a by-stander

But will this course help me as a dietitian?

  • As dietitians, we never learned what interrupts progress and HOW to address it

  • We didn’t have opportunities to learn about emotions, how they pop up in eating disorder care, and WHY!

  • As RDs, we WANT to feel competent and know what to say

  • Of course you want to learn a systematic and clear approach to DEEP validation and connect with your clients on a level that allows for engagement, connection and rapport building

But, why emotions?

Why are emotions important for dietitians to lean into?

“EVERYTHING! Ideal level of depth, love the vignettes and exercises to bring the concepts to life (Rumi poem, Marina and Ulay video, etc.), incredibly engaging speakers, and practical applications.”

“This course has changed the way I practice for the better. While I view myself as an empathetic dietitian, the course gave me a new understanding. It was truly life-altering. I enjoyed the live sessions. It allowed us to engage with the presenters and fellow RDs as a community. One of my favorite aspects of the course was the practice sessions.”

“Both the presenters were extremely knowledgeable, and very passionate about their work. They were well organized and describe the concepts clearly and efficiently. I really enjoyed listening to the live teachbacks. Very helpful.”
